A Rational Reason For Christimas Decorations in October
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:34:56 pm »
As most of you know, Lyric and I really decorate for Christmas every year -- continuing traditions that date back to our childhoods. However, I've never been one for decorating earlier and earlier as the years go by. Heck, I think most Christmas stuff in stores shouldn't come out until around Thanksgiving, but I lost that one many years ago.

However, the article I link to below is about a town in Ontario that decorated for Christimas in October this year so that one of the town's children who has brain cancer and is not expected to make it to Christmas could have one last Christmas. Even I could decorate early for a cause like this.

I admit I foamed at the mouth a bit when I saw the thread title.   Normally, I don't want to hear the word Christmas until well after Thanksgiving (exception made only for a certain Tim Burton flick that I watch every October).

In this instance, I have to say that sometimes people do bad things for really good reasons. I applaud them for doing it.

I do my best to avoid Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving, but I most wholeheartedly agree with this town.
