Bastet

Could someone tell me about Bastet? I feel drawn to her, I've heard that she is a Goddess of protection, but I've also heard some bad things, so could someone tell me more about her? I'm really interested.

I've only experienced Ubaste as a goddess of protection, but when I work with her, I tend to approach her as the killer of the a/pep serpent, and as a goddess that protects against the arrows of Sekhmet. I'm curious- what bad things have you heard about her? Personal experiences, or mythology that throws you off?

There's a really great blog that talks about her from a historical perspective. I'm having a hard time finding it, but when/if I do, I'll post a link. :)

I can't find it again, but I read an article about how she's just a blood thirsty evil goddess. I'll be honest, it all look like crap to me. I just wanted to be sure, I've always been taught to be cautious with superior beings. And thank you for your help. And that link would be awesome if you can find it. :)

http://www.per-bast.org is the link you want.

The name is "Bast", by the way, not "Bastet"; in the late period, foreign influence led to sloppy pronunciation of concluding Ts and some people started adding an extra T to say no really pronounce that.

The name means "lady of the ointment jar".

I was kind of wondering if that might be what you were thinking of!

(Fortunately that one is in the bookmarks list in my actual brain, not Somewhere On The Computer.)

Thank you so much!!! and I'm sorry about calling her Bastet, I thought that was the most recognizable name.
