I think it's rather curious that "lucifer" and its greek equivalent "phosphoros" (and any of their derivations) are used for a variety of different deities such as Apollo, Artemis/Diana, Hekate, Hermes, Selene and most star/planetary deities in their role/s as literal and figurative illuminators, but never to the de facto solar deity.

Is there some nuance to this, or is it because there's some level of disconnection I'm not getting?

I would think it's the difference between /carrying/ the light and /being/ the light - one does not carry oneself.

But that's a gut reaction, not, like, research based or anything.
