Untraditioned polytheism?
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:12:29 pm »
I've read about it here.

Is there any untraditioned polytheist here?

I'm curious what the difference between "untraditioned" and "eclectic" is? I mean, other than that "eclectic" has very unfortunately gained a lot of negative baggage...
KARMA: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

 I don't know.
Maybe untraditioned means that there is no definite religious framework on which one builds one's eclectic religious practice (as opposed to just eclectic, that commonly seems to be the case of people that develop an eclectic practice within a more or less definite religious framework)?

Hmm. I don't know about that. Most eclectics I know don't follow a definite religious framework.

Perhaps it's a neologism, with the intent to break from that baggage? Like how Reconstructionism kinda-sorta broke from the 'Neopagan' label because of the fluff-bunny connotations the latter term had accrued over time.
Less cynically, maybe they developed it to refer to eclectic pagans who don't have a grounding in Wicca-shaped customs that are otherwise ubiquitous in Eclecticism.
