Let's make a (fictional) religion!
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:13:24 pm »
Because this weather is getting me down. I've seen this world-buidling game elsewhere, and it looked like fun. This is how it works: each poster adds one new fact about this religion. New facts can't contradict ones that have already been posted. Other than that, anything goes.

Here are a few to start off with:

- There are seven elements.
- Melons are a typical offering.
- Amethyst is considered sacred.

Human sacrifice is acceptable, although optional.

One of the elements is titanium. Oil is another.

And another is beer.

Another is the internet.

A ritual is considered especially potent if it utilizes all of the elements at once.

Another element is gingerbread.

using durian fruits for protection is a valid spell component.

Hmm... coffee should be an element in about everything :)

Cats are the embodiments of deities.  Obviously.

Durian fruits may not be offered to cat gods. Ever.

Human sacrifice is only ritually acceptable if the cause of death is one of the elements.

(We have 6/7 now: titanium, oil, beer, internet, gingerbread, and coffee)

The coat pattern of a cat determines which god it embodies (tabby, Siamese, tortoiseshell etc.)

Are you sure it's not the other way around -- the embodying god determines the coat pattern?  ;)

This machine needs to be in the religion somehow, so I propose that every important temple has one. For ritual purposes, naturally.

Fine, as long as there's a hot chocolate option for those of us who can't drink coffee.

In fact, I propose that all rituals include the optional consumption of chocolate.

That machine looks fancy enough to produce any form of hot beverage you can think of. Seconded on the chocolate. (Now I make brownies!)

Well, all *I* know is that the cat deities are all-powerful and all-knowing. OB-viously.  (Yeesh.)

So, it stands to reason that the deity would decide what it wants it's embodiment to look like.

And anyone who disagrees with me is just wrong.

(I'm joking, of course! :-D )
