What did you do in your garden today?

What did you do in your garden today?

The idea is to  have some sort of garden diary over  the time of the year.

--------------------

Today I won't do much in my garden - as it is snowing right now.

My mother has an area on the upper level of our backyard reserved for a vegetable garden. However, seeing as I live in northwest Washington, it hasn't been prime gardening weather as of late. It's either raining (most of the time) or it's just too cold.

Looking out of the window I have 2 narcis/daffodil yellow flowers quite early. My snowdrops are not flowering yet, soon...:)
It is too cold for any gardening.

I'm getting ready to start some indoor plants this week - I've got some tomatoes, peppers, and cauliflower that I want to start in the kitchen before they move outside in a month or two.

I'm also growing indoor plants. I have an aloe plant I keep in my kitchen window (I really need to transplant the thing...it's getting big >>; ) and I have a little pot growing strawberry seeds.

I planned what herbs I will be growing this growing season. I am planning quite a few plants in containers for my herb garden. Nothing much else really.

Today D and I added some extra soil to pots that needed it, yesterday we also re-potted a rose bush (I grew that one from a cutting of a rose I was given as a kid), and the horseradish. We also watered everything at dusk, since it's summer everything is drying out.
The garden, which is mostly potted plants, is looking quite good at the moment :)

I planted seeds last week and some of them have started to sprout! I'm.. actually worried about that. The marigolds weren't supposed to be up so early but they started sprouting 5 days after I planted them. And all of them sprouted. So I wonder if I didn't plant them deep enough. We'll see!

I'm still waiting on the tomatoes and the green beans, though the beans should be up by next week.

I shall embrace the light. I shall weather the storm.
I shall endure.

Let's see. My garden is really coming back to life right now. Amusingly some potatoes I thought died due to black spot last year have been coming back in. Same with some rhubarb that was decimated by slugs.

I added in some Datura seeds (growing cause its a nifty plant not for drug uses). And ordered a really interesting plant that is a grafting of tomato and potato.

Found a tiny raspberry offshoot that ended up in the mound of dirt that was left after potting up everything and I moved that into it's own pot. Figured it should be rewarded for its stubbornness in growing where it wasn't planned.

I'm debating if I'm going to be growing any annuals other than the tomato/potato this year.

Something very strange in my garden...........I tend to leave the fallen leaves in fall and usually I have some brown and beige mushrooms/fungi today I noticed something green...........I looked closer was more then 1 was 4 dark green round cap mushrooms even the stems are lighter hue of same green, midway the stem has sort of edge rim that sticks out, the smallest is like 1 cm the biggest the cap is 3.5 cm they are darkgreen of cool tint green maybe even a little blue hue....never seen these..........
years ago I used to go to woods/forrest in the fall just to look at mushrooms/fungi
..........
I browsed several mushrooms sites looking at all sorts of green fungi this afternoon but nothing that looks like it.............anyone any idea what it is?

Tomorrow we celebrate Imbolc!

That is also seen as a new beginning in nature!

And also as a time, when gardens may come to live again!

What I did today: Feeding the winter birds in the garden!
