Greenpeace and the Nazca Lines

Have you guys heard about this?

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/14/world/americas/peru-plans-to-charge-greenpeace-activists-for-damage-to-nazca-lines.html?_r=0

I'm kind of pissed at Greednpeace over this. I know they apologized but it was, IMO, a half-assed one and frankly isn't anywhere near enough to make up for what their stupid decision.

IMHO, a real apology would have Greenpeace forking over however much money is needed to repair the damage they caused. Defacing ancient artifacts isn't an acceptable form of protesting anything.

That would require understanding that the world isn't neatly divided into 'what we value' and 'useless shit that doesn't matter,' a concept that rather eludes fanatics of every stripe.

I completely agree but unfortunately I doubt that will happen.
