Shrouded in Smoke
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:59:58 pm »
Once
I was heat
I was molten
Purified liquid
bursting under pressure
I thrust myself
outward!
Quenching in cool waters
so quickly
that I may be
struck and worked
to a clean molecular edge

fine enough
to part atom from atom painlessly
performing surgery
but leaving fewer scars

Cutting through lies and fears

resentments and anger
I excise buried issues
before they erupt
Sand, fire and oxygen
in perfect harmony
Crow-dark
Gaia brown
Green as the eyes
of Persephone
Rainbowed or
tricked out with snowflakes;
Cool and glassy
in your hand

Stone of Truth
Soulmirror,
I will remorselessly skin
you down to your true self
Separate you cleanly
from your delusions
I have guided
swords, spears & arrows
through the maze of history
I have been many masks
graced my share of artful spaces
succumbing to the skills
of jewelers and sculptors
my shadowy self
feasting upon the negativity
infecting your air
before keeping the rest at bay

Sacred to Itzpapalotl
Nanauatzin
Madame Pele
Vulcan
Ereshkigal
and Jana,
Goddess of Mysteries,
Secret and Hidden things.
I protect you
Easing burdens
like depression
bad memories
or doubts
Sheltering your tender spirit
whilst you transform
in my mirrored surface
of brutal Truth

Helping you ground
and conquer lessons
of humble integrity
We will speak of lives past
and the patterns of Karma
Shed not one tear more, my friend!
I will shed them for you
I am another you
Life learning itself
through forms and generations.
Athame of manifestation,
I make way for change.

For those new to the game, each singing poem is inspired by a Teacher found in Nature; an animal, plant, star, stone etc that holds lessons of Wisdom for those who listen. Can you guess who is singing today?
Wishing you laughter

That's my guess, too.
Deflated, but not defeated, I awaken.
Discouraged, but not destroyed, I rise.
Down, but determined, I try again.

Yes! Well done! I really felt out of all the Teachers I might write about, that the Stone People would be spotted very quickly by folks here lol Where else are you going to find such a large collection of people interested in "rocks" outside of a gem and rock show? The Teacher singing here is Obsidian

I thought for a moment it could be something like lava rock (I think there's a term for that, right?), but the clue about using it as medical tools it was really tipped me off (I recall reading a story of a guy who underwent some sort of heart surgery and ONLY had obsidian tools used, and his recovery time was remarkably faster than with conventional surgical steel). :)

Thank you once again for these awesome poems, entwife! I've always looked forward to reading them since I first joined.

It was Don Crabtree "the dean of American flint knapping". Fascinating story! http://monache.blogspot.com/2013/04/don-crabtree-hall-of-fame-flintknapper.html

I'm so glad you enjoy these! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights into both the poetry, and some of the inspiration behind the poetry! Always greatly appreciated, I love hearing how people connect with the Teacher being highlighted, personal experiences and viewpoints; endlessly fascinating to me.

Branching out into the Stone teachers has been very interesting, and somewhat surprising. I'm learning that I have been more interested in this group of Teachers than I had previously thought, and love the wealth of info I've been consuming as I muse each one. Always my pleasure to share these Teachers who inspire me every day.
