Recommendations for happy websites?
« on: November 17, 2014, 08:55:46 am »
So,

I'm noticing that most of the websites I tend to frequent range from "slightly downbeat" to "brutally depressing".

Do you have any websites that you like to go to that are interesting/fun and and at the same time don't seem to be almost exclusively focused on chronic unemployment, disease, despair, war, etc?

If you're ever interested in steampunk, brassgoggles.co.uk is probably the nicest one out there. I've seen perhaps TWO angry discussions there in my two years there.

Everyone is... well, nice. Kind, welcoming, supportive... its kinda the standard by which I rate other forums and forumgoers.

The Fortean Times is my go-to.

Happle Tea is my first stop for comics. They're mythology-based and really fun.

Some very good suggestions.  I'm plowing through Happle Tea at the moment.

http://zenpencils.com is one that I really like. It's a collection of (some fairly profound) quotes drawn into comics. I've got a couple saved on my phone whenever I need a pickmeup.

Boggle The Owl is another one that CAN be slightly depressing and sometimes triggering, but offers good advice and a smile at the cuteness.

http://www.sueandkathryn.com/ A cute, funny, slice-of-life webcomic with young-ish, female wraith and zombie roommates. So far it features elves, were-elephants, and an orc cop.

Once I think of some other websites, I'll add them.

Nope. Because I never use the phrases 'politically correct' or 'politically incorrect' when I'm talking about whether someone is or isn't treating other people with respect.

Oh no, not politically incorrect at all. Just rude as hell. When I went to Japan, the people there were perfectly lovely whenever I mangled their language. They'd smile and correct me, with a warm "Daijoubu, wakarimashita!" (That's OK, I understood). I was never mocked for my mistakes.

KARMA: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
