(trigger warning: depression, suicide)

Hey all,

about 3 months ago, after a long battle of depression, I tried to end my life. Before you ask, yes, I am okay and getting much better.

In the midst of all of that, my parents rightly freaked out. I lost a lot of my privacy (which, of course I did, I tried to kill myself). I also lost my freedom to practice my faith. They insist I go with them to church, and I am involved in the choir now. Again, wouldn't be such a big deal, but...I miss my own path. But right now, it's out of the question. I think they think that somehow paganism made me do what I did, which, no, it was probably a mix of hormones/chemicals doing weird crap in my brain/loneliness.

I am graduating this semester and plan on moving out shortly after. I just wanted some advice, and prayers. And yes, you can be hard on me if you need to. Maybe I should just forget the path and focus on getting better right now. It's not like the Goddess will take it personally.

Sigh. I sound like a brat.

No. Don't talk like that. You're not a brat. If someone tells you that you're a brat for wanting your emotional needs met...f*ck them.

Do your parents object to your religion per se, or are they just doing the super-duper protective Mom & Dad freakout? (Speaking as someone with a MEGA overprotective mom)

If they're just being misguidedly protective, I would try to explain to them the benefits that the pagan community has provided you, and point out that pagan groups provide support much like churches.

Yeah, right now it is just super freakout mode. Maybe it will pass. Hopefully. Right now, they don't want to hear about it, so it may not be the best time to bring it up, heh.
