The idea of using contraception as a teen actually seems pretty sound to me.

 
I agree but when you're also being taught sex is bad and needs to be kept inside of marriage at the same time, it's kind of confusing as well. Or at the very least told you can't have sex until you are 18 or you are a nasty ho. I have a lot of issues surrounding that.

It seems the problem is the shaming and stigmatization of normal sexuality, not the encouragement of contraception.

Umm....OK. Thanks? It's just your original post specifically mentioned the encouragement of contraceptive use among teens as a problem.

 
I didn't read her post like that. I believe what she meant was that it's a problem to be told BOTH 'wait til marriage' and 'if you're having premarital sex use protection,' because it is confusing and leads to issues like she has described, not that contraceptive usage itself was the problem, let alone usage by teens.

In short, that telling teens contradicting things about contraception is a problem (as you said, this problem is part of the overarching problem of stigmatizing sex).

Even though I'm a Christopagan and I didn't exactly identify as a Christian in high school, I still have issues surrounding my sexuality and how to express it. Even my pagan sister (because of our upbringing) that taught me about paganism and LGBT tolerance, had issues with sexuality as well and passed them down to me. I grew up with contradictory ideologies. Such as wait until marriage (or at least age 18) and/or use a condom/contraception before marriage.

I could be wrong, of course. I just felt the need to jump in because I was re-reading posts and not seeing what you were referring to.
