Meditation?
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:15:16 pm »
Hello ^_^

I wasnt really such where the best place to post this was, but i figured that meditation is often used pre-ritual etc. I know i could easily look this up online or read books on it, which i have been doing, but i was wondering how different people get into a zone of silence and calm? I've been trying for ages, and its starting to improve. If anyone has any pointers from experience, id be very grateful. I know it'll be something I'll have to pick up over time, and learn for myself, but hearing from others sometimes helps.

Thanks,
Amy =)

Silence is difficult and pretzel sitting doesn't do much for me

I found I had to get in to the habit of using every oppurtunity to stop the flow of thought as opposed to 30 minutes of structured meditation

Even if it was only for a few seconds at a stop light the quantitative approach worked better for me than qualitative

Eventually I was able to extend those few seconds when I did set aside time for formal meditation

"Pretzel sitting" doesn't do anything for me either, just makes my legs and back hurt. I find super relaxing music, like Reiki/meditation, music sets the mood for me and gets the gears to slow down.
