Topical Chats! For all your curiousity ailments
« on: August 15, 2014, 11:22:18 am »
I thought that it might be a good idea to start having scheduled chats on specific topics in the MUX. Anyone can organise a chat on a topic of their choosing, they could be on your particular path, a SIG, the best pie fillings, whatever you might be interested in.

You can field for interest in this thread, then fine tune the details in a new thread of your own!

These chats would occur in a room outside of the main chat room. We have an assortment of public rooms.

It might be worth checking out the MUX FAQ to get your bearings if you're not familiar with the chat. Also please consider requesting an account if you don't have one already.

Personally, I'd be interested in organising chats on all things Baltic and Slavic, as well as discussing different approaches to centring and grounding.

If there's anyone interested, let me know here :)

I'd love to see deity-centered chats. *cough* Brighid chat *cough*

Perhaps also a "Baby Steps" chat about how more generally to bring religion into one's everyday life?

I'd be willing to coordinate a research skills and general related geekery chat.

(There's a codicil here, which is that I am actively job hunting, it will require a move, and that means that scheduling is a little tricky depending on interviews and what happens with them, and so on, but I'm glad to see how we can make it work.)

If there's interest, I'll start a thread, and we can use it for specific topics. (Like "How do you get awesome academic articles if you are not at an academic institution!" and "The secrets of advanced Google searches" and so on.)

I think, considering my main resource for things *is* the internet, I'd also be interested in this chat so I can learn how to improve my searches. :D

Hmm... not everyone does this, but scheduled e-rituals as well? I noticed ritual rooms, and I find electronic chat based ritual too be a good way to get in the right head space for working

I'd be open to this, depending on the type of rituals.

I'd like to see this too. I think celebratory rituals might be easier to share than ones that specifically raise energy or do magic together - so, say, an esbat celebration or a devotional ritual to a particular deity that all can participate in without having to tap into the same energy current.

...I am typing from my phone while shoveling food in my face and still very tired, so I apologize if that didn't make much sense. :)

I would definitely be interested in Baltic/Slavic discussion.

I dunno what I would volunteer to facilitate. Maybe pop culture paganism chat?

Sooo, when we were hashing this idea out in chat, my example was, literally, "So, savvy, if you wanted to do a Baltic/Slavic chat, that'd get Jack, and Tom, and maybe me, and some other people, and then maybe Jack would want to do something else too, and do a pop culture paganism chat...."

So, this is the stuff you get up to when I'm sleeping or at work. And yes, I would be very up for a Baltic/Slavic chat.

Also for a pop culture one should Jack host one. One on the basics would be very nice too.
