Ash uses?
« on: July 30, 2014, 11:30:09 am »
Hello~

So I'm moving back into a dorm for the school year, and because of that, I can't burn anything.  Nothing.  No candles, no incense, nothing at all.  So, I thought, since I have a bunch of of incense, I could burn a few sticks, keep the ashes, and use those instead of burning.

Does anyone have any suggestions to uses of the post-burning ash?  I though maybe I could sprinkle it on my electronic candles during rituals, or place the ash in a small bowl in the center of the circle?  Didn't know if there was anyone more experienced who's had to do this before.  ^_^;

What do you use the incense for, in your ritual practice?

If it's for smell, you could use perfume (there are a bunch of perfumers who do things for ritual purposes, even) applied to your wrists or a scent locket. (If you have a roommate, check carefully about scent allergies.)

If it's to represent air, you could have a paper/wood fan, some dangling ribbons. or some other appropriate symbol out.

If it's to get the effect of particular herbs/ingredients in your incense, you could get those specific things and apply them to whatever your use would be (grind them up - a small mortar and pestle is easy to store - whatever.)

But really, it depends a whole lot on the purpose.

I use them for all three, actually, with the inclusion of using it to represent fire as well as air.
